Opening Day 2022

With the river settled and at a good height hopes were high for opening day this year. These hopes were realised not long after ten o'clock this morning when Iain McLaren landed a superb fish of 19lbs on the fly from Port-na-Craig bank – the perfect start to the season. Well done Iain – a day to remember. Quite a few anglers turned out today but despite their best efforts Iain’s fish would be the only one of the day.

The day was very much enhanced by the availability of bacon rolls and burgers on the bank courtesy of committee member Alec Cruikshank. Alec very generously made these available free of charge asking only for a donation to Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.  Needless to say they proved very popular with anglers and non-anglers alike and raised a total of £160. Well done Alec – great effort!

All in all a great start to the season – hopefully it bodes well for the rest of the year.

An excellent turnout today - with bacon rolls and burgers proving very popular!
