After
almost 10 weeks in lockdown there was some excitement about getting back out
for a first cast today – and the big question was how well would the river fish
after such a long rest period? The circumstances were unique and the general fishing
conditions looked favourable – a falling river but with the water still at a
good height and lots of fish showing throughout the beat over the last few
days. I arrived at the river at 9.30am and my question was soon answered – I was
just in time to see fish number twelve being landed on our Dam beat with
reports of at least two more having being caught on our Sawmill beat - and more were to come! At the
Dam the catches were as follows: Iain McLaren had a red letter day with seven
fish - 8lbs, 8lbs, 9lbs,9lbs,10lbs,11lbs
from Pitlochry bank this morning and one at 10lbs on the fly from Port-na-Craig
bank in the afternoon – very nicely done; Sean Dugan also had a
day to remember with a fish of 14lbs on the fly from Pitlochry bank this
morning - well done;
Saul Mackay had one of 10lbs on the fly from Pitlochry bank this morning – and lost
a few others; Tony Brown lost a couple early on but persevered to land three nice
fish at 9lbs, 10lbs and 14lbs on the fly from Port-na-Craig bank this morning; Gordon Hanslip had a fish at 7lbs on the fly from Port-na-Craig bank this
morning; in the evening Dave Stewart had fish at 10lbs and 13lbs on the fly from Pitlochry bank; and Jim Fisher landed a 10lber on PItlochry bank on the fly - again the evening. Further down at Sawmill: Ally Gowans had an early morning fish of 8lbs
on the fly; Jim Fisher had one at 7lbs not long after – again on the fly; and
John Tomlin got a nice fish of 11lbs on the spinner. Quite a day on PAC waters!
