Pitlochry
Angling Club committee member Gordon Nichol won the Mactaggart Kenmore Trophy
this year with his splendid opening day 21 pounder from Portnacraig Pitlochry
Beat - see previous post for more details. This trophy is awarded annually
to the angler catching and releasing the biggest properly witnessed fish of the
opening day anywhere on the Tay system. The winner often has to rush from the
river at short notice to attend the celebratory opening day gala dinner and
charity auction at The Kenmore Hotel as a guest to be presented with the trophy
and an accompanying gallon bottle of Dewar’s whisky. 120 people attended this
year’s dinner and Andrew Flinn of The Kenmore Hotel made the presentation. The
following auction raised the wonderful total of over £92,000 for the following
excellent charities - Angling for Youth Development (AFYD), The Children’s
Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), The Nicola Murray Foundation (ovarian
cancer) and Sarah’s Promise.
