Pitlochry/ Portnacraig beat on the River Tummel at Pitlochry is famous for its large spring salmon and it offers visiting fisherman fantastic value for money. We've been doing some homework and discovered that it costs at least twice as much to catch a springer in April and May on other beats on the Tay system than it does at Portnacraig. Check our online booking system for availability and prices. Amazingly there are still some rods available for visitors in late April and early May and the warmer spring weather this year is sure to encourage the springers to run earlier than the previous two years so late March and early April could come up trumps.
159 fish were caught in 2011 mostly in April and May making this one of the most productive spring salmon beats in Scotland. June – often overlooked and not heavily fished catches were outstanding last year.
