March 28 – News gets around like my F1 car in Aussie so here’s the scoop. Lovely fishing day, Fish showing including a MONSTER that threatened to cause a tsunami when it jumped (slight exaggeration). Some anglers got a bit damp, one of them was very worried until he figured that the leak really was in his waders, the other discovered that there is the potential for a big leak when four feet of waders step into five feet of water. To save embarrassment his real name remains a secret but we can now call him Bob and his day included losing a salmon. Ah well Bob look on the bright side it can only get better! Another way to loose salmon was expertly demonstrated by an angler who made a fine job of hitting a fish with a bottle (tube) only to lose his deposit thanks to 12lb BS leader material. Lesson learnt I guess, big fish, heavy flies, strong leader required. Lots of fish about and only one safely landed. With runs due to peak in April and May and booking restrictions lifted (yes you really can buy as many days as you like) things are looking up.
