Pitlochry Angling Club Open Night & Grand Fishing Tackle Auction, Scotland's Hotel, Pitlochry, 13 March 2019, 7pm. (Everyone welcome!)

This year's Open Night features what is sure to be a very interesting and enlightening talk by fish genetics expert Prof Eric Verspoor entitled "Arctic charr and brown trout diversity in the R Tay system - two species, many ecological forms". This fascinating subject looks at the different lifestyles adopted by genetically similar groups of these fish.

The popular PAC fishing tackle auction is set to return to liven up our 2019 Open Night. Over the years the auction has helped PAC raise an incredible amount of money for local and national charities. This year the Committee has decided to award the proceeds of the auction to two most deserving and inspiring charities; Help for Heroes and the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS). To see the good work that they do follow the links: www.chas.org.uk/how-we-help and www.helpforheroes.org.uk

You can help to make the auction a great success and contribute to these worthy causes by donating fishing tackle, books, fly tying materials, waders, clothing e.t.c. Please pass any items to a member of the committee or contact A. McCartney on 01796472924 who is happy to collect items from you.

The other way you can contribute is to come along to the open night and grab yourself a bargain or more likely buy more stuff you don't really need, remember the causes!

With Jimmy Ross taking a well-earned rest from hosting the auction this year our auctioneer will be the chairman of the Tay District Salmon Fishery Board, our very own Iain McLaren. This year's auction promises to be a fast-moving event, sit on your hands and you will lose out!

With your help, the auction promises to be the best one yet.
