RIVER TUMMEL TROUT FISHING

Tummel just below Pitlochry, 1/9/13
Our river trout fishing in September through to the end of the trout season on 6 October is generally very good both during the day and in the evenings.

Two SNFFL (Scottish National Fly Fishing League) competitions take place over this period, a SNFFL First Division one on Sunday 1 September and a SNFFL Premier League one on Sunday 6 October. Although other anglers can fish these days, the river will be busier with up to 20 competition anglers (about 10 are expected on Sunday 1 September) also fishing, and anglers will find things quieter on other dates.

Results for the competition on 1/9/13 (added 6/9/13). 11 anglers took part and caught 28 browns (largest 350 mm) and 11 grayling (largest 380 mm). Best angler by points was Kenny Galt, known to many as the Tweed Foundation Trout and Grayling Biologist (well done Kenny), but third placed angler Martin Stewart had the most fish (9). Paul Buchanan took second place.
