Fishing on his own today (Saturday), Jimmy Ross has just landed our first springer of the 2011 season, a lovely, deep fish of about 15 lbs, taken from the Portnacraig (Theatre) Bank. Great stuff!! Call it a premonition if you like, but I wandered down to the river at about 14.15, just in time to capture the deed for posterity on my camera phone. Both the salmon and Jimmy are shown looking well-conditioned. The salmon swam away strongly, while Jimmy surveyed the remnants of his self-tied size 6 double Cascade (AFW).
